The Game
Premise
Guests were each provided with ten Golden Goose coins upon arrival. Throughout the course of the weekend they were challenged to collect as many more as possible. The person that submitted the most coins to the mimic chest by the end of the celebrations would later receive a prize.
'The Game' came about a number of years ago for a themed birthday party. The rules were pretty straightforward:
- Coins can be obtained via any means
- ...?
On the obvious understanding that The Game is always played in good fun (we don't condone mugging people for wooden tokens) the lack of rules has led to some creative shenanigans.
Games
A number of games were made available for those that wanted to win their coins through ingenuity, skill, or luck.
By request, a copy of some of the dice games Tom redesigned can be found below. All of these games used 5 regular D6 dice and a dice cup.
Highlights
Since we were somewhat distracted for most of the event, the game was something we mostly heard about afterwards. Thank you so much to those who really got into the spirit of it, it made us so happy hearing about folks hijinks!
Including:
- Mel deciding that she won by too large a margin last time we played, so this time used some clever tactics to win the coins for Arthur instead. Many people didn’t believe her, but he still won by a lot
- Tom’s family all realising they could go and steal the leftover coins from jars at the welcome area, separately having the same idea. (Suprisingly Mel and Oggy who were running the welcome desk didn’t think of this, sorry guys!)
- Carl asking for tips for pouring drinks out at the bar. Hearing that there was a queue of people as he pocketed coins for pouring out drinks honestly made us laugh so much, as we said all the drinks were free anyway
- Carl then losing those coins to Mac, who sold him some of his mead
- Alex grabbing a fistful of Mel’s bountiful coins, and running away as she screamed “You’re stealing from a child!!”

Winner
It was many weeks after the weekend that the coins were totalled and a winner was found.
With a group effort Arthur Saint won 'The Game' with a total of 251 Golden Goose coins. He'll be awarded a custom-engraved tankard, which, given he only recently turned three might not see proper use for a little while.
'The Game' will return...
